The events surrounding Holy Week are the most powerful events in all of history. His lance is contained in one of the four pillars over the altar in the Basilica of St. Longinus' relics are now in the church of St Augustine, in Rome. This video follows all 14 Stations of the Cross, from Our Lord’s condemnation, through His passion, and to the Tomb, providing Scripture, prayers, and reflection for each station. The Roman Martyrology tells us that Longinus died a martyr and gives his feast as March 15th. To help you reflect on Our Lord’s sorrowful passion, The CatholicMatch Institute has produced a powerful video featuring Father Ananias O.S.B reflecting on the Way Of The Cross. One of the oldest and most beautiful pious traditions of Christians is the Stations of the Cross. It is the week upon which all of God’s entire plan for the salvation of humankind hinges. The Roman Martyrology tells us that Longinus died a martyr and gives his feast as March 15th. The soldier’s name was Longinus, who served in Judea under the command of Pilate and that he was from a village in Italy called Lanciano, which means “lance”.Īfter witnessing the Crucifixion, we are told that Longinus was so moved that he converted and left the army, and went to Cappadocia to learn from the Apostles. While the Gospel does not elaborate on the identity of the Roman Centurion who wielded the lance, early Church tradition tells the fascinating story of how his life was forever altered that day. But John 19: 33-34 tells us that “when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.” It was the same soldier who in Mark 15:39 proclaims “Truly this man was the Son of God”. Sunday Worship (4.26.20) | Remnant Uncovered from Sound of Heaven on Vimeo. In the Crucifixion narrative in the Gospel of Saint John, we are told that, because a solemn sabbath was approaching, the Roman soldiers present were instructed to break the legs of those on the crosses, to speed their death so they could be taken down. Mark 14:53 They led Jesus away to the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders, and scribes. Matthew 27:27 Then the governors soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company around Him. If Mary was impregnated by a spirit then Jesus could not have been human and if Mary was raped by a Roman soldier or any other man Jesus still cannot have been the true. Those who had arrested Jesus led Him away to the house of Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and elders had gathered. ![]() ![]() So if Joseph was Jesus’ biological father Jesus could not be the True Messiah or The Chosen One. I believe with this information above there is only one logical answer. No son of Jaconaiah will ever sit on the thrown is Judah or be king. If the Apostles were lying, why would they start there where they could be easily disproved? Why wouldn’t they tell their lies to people in a different region who had no clue to what happened so nobody could dispute it? If the Apostles were lying and made it up and started proclaiming this in the region where literally everyone knows what had happened, why not easily disprove this fictitious tale by just producing the body? So let me ask this.if it were false or they were making it up…why so silent? The disciples now start preaching and teaching a Resurrection right in the region where it happened, while all of the opposers stood helplessly watching it all transpire. The enemies of Christ stood silent with no opposition to these claims…Why? Not only is He not in the tomb, He then teaches people publicly for 30 days and there are over 500 eyewitnesses.
